September 9th - 13th


This week in music, the Kindergarten students came to the music room for the first time!  We played some name games, learned the “Hello” song, did some movement activities and played “The Farmer in the Dell.”  The Kindergarten students will have music once a week this year.

Grade 1:
 Learned about high and low sounds – talking about different animals that make a high sound and a low sound.  They also acted like a specific animal if the music was high and a different animal if the music was low
Sung, in tune, many rhythmic, singing games and action songs
Recognized “ta” and “titi” rhythm patterns

Grade 2:
Recognized whole, half and quarter rests and notes.  As well as created different rhythm patterns using these notes and rests to clap and echo
Responded to tone matching with other voices and instruments

Grade 3:
Continued with good vocal development while singing with expression and good enunciation
Recognized the eighth rest and incorporated this rest in to a variety of rhythm patterns to clap and echo

Grade 4:
Recognized a sixteenth note (tic-a-tic-a) and incorporated it in to a variety of rhythm patterns to clap and echo
Continued vocal development by focusing on good enunciation of the words
