Jan. 27th - 30th

January 27 th – 30 th It has been another busy week in music class … The Grade 1 and 2 choir started Tuesday at lunch and 159 students made it to the music room.   The students had a great time and left the classroom singing one of their new songs. This week in music … Kindergarten -        Continued working on vocal development and worked on singing instead of yelling while learning the song “Baby Bumblebee” -        Continued working with the African drums – learned the secret code and was able to end their rhythm pattern all together upon hearing the secret code Grade 1 -        Continued working on their songs for their celebration of learning – also added in O Canada as well.   Practiced standing and sitting quietly. -        Learned a pattern called 8 big booms on the African drum -        Continued having the chance to echo back simple rhythm patterns on the African drums Grade 2 -        Started to piece together

January 13th - 17th

January 13 th – 17 th Just a reminder that Grade 1 and 2 choir starts on Tuesday January 28 th and permission forms are due back by Tuesday January 21 st This week in music … Kindergarten -        Worked on vocal development and continued talking about the concept of singing.   Students learned the song “Down By the Station” -        Continued working with the African drums and keeping a steady beat. Grade 1 -        Continued working on their songs for the celebration of learning -        Continued working with the African drums – learned the notes “goon” and “doon” and that they are played in the middle of the drum. -        Had the chance to echo back simple rhythm patterns on the African drums Grade 2 -        Continued working with the African drums by echoing rhythm patterns, playing rhythm patterns together and focusing on keeping a steady beat -        Learned a new pattern called “GG 5” o    Ask your child to show you this pattern at home
