Missing all of you!

Hi Everyone!!! Wow ... what a week!  I hope and everyone of you are doing well!   I am missing you all so much and what we were creating in the music room! I am safe and healthy and was working at the school this week. Kindergarten students, I miss teaching you how to sing "O Canada" and talking about a heart beat with you! Grade 1 and 2 students, I am missing your sweet voices while singing and teaching you about the sol-fa notes. Grade 3 and 4 students, I am missing your xylophone playing and watching you grow with your sol-fa notes.  TASC students, I am missing your smiles and giggles and working with the different shaking instruments with you. Please know that I am thinking about each and everyone of you and if you need anything or want to share something with me I would LOVE to hear about it!!  Today I took a little break and went for a walk outside and enjoyed the fresh air!  Hopefully the snow starts melting soon and spring is around the corner. March 9th - 13th

March 9 th – 13 th This week in music … Kindergarten -        Continued working on vocal development and working on singing in tune -        Started talking about the beat and learning how to walk to a slow, medium and fast beat Grade 1 -        Continued learning about the sol-fa notes “mi, so and la” and using our hand as a tool to place these notes on the musical staff Grade 2 -        Did an assessment on the sol – fa notes -        Continued working on vocal development and singing in tune Grade 3 -        Continued working with sol-fa notes and playing our songs on the xylophones o    Students had the chance to share one of their two songs that they could play on the xylophone Grade 4 -        Reviewed the time signature 4/4 and started creating their own xylophone compositions

This week in music … Kindergarten -        Continued working on vocal development and are learning how to sing “O Canada” -        Talked about high and low sounds and had the chance to improvise movements when they heard a high sound and low sound Grade 1 -        Continued working on vocal development and working on singing in tune -        Talked about high, middle and low sounds Grade 2 -        Finalized our drumming stories for our celebration of learning -        Grade 3 students came to visit us and we got to share our drumming stories with them then teach them our drumming patterns Grade 3 & 4 -        Started working with the sol – fa notes and learning where they go on the staff -        Started working with the xylophones – labelled a song with the sol – fa notes and then learned how to play it on the instruments

February 3rd - 7th

This week was our last week of African drumming.   The students had the chance to piece together their drumming song which consisted of 3 to 5 different rhythm patterns. The Grade 1 students also fine tweaked their songs for their Celebration of Learning and did an amazing job show casing their work.
